Alamo -- Roscoe Mathias Elmore, 75, prominent farmer of the Alamo community, whose father, James B. Elmore, was widely known as the "Bard of Alamo," died Thursday night in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient four days. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion. Mr. Elmore was born Oct. 1, 1882, in the Alamo community where he had engaged in farming most of his life. He also was a school teacher 39 years. During this period he taught in the Montgomery, Clinton and Vermillion county schools. He also taught in Illinois. He was a member of the Alamo Christian Church. His mother was Mrs. Mary Ann Murray Elmore. Survivors include the widow; a son, Norman Elmore of Caracas, Venezuela; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Rush of Alamo; two grandsons, Dean and Roscoe Rush, also of Alamo; a sister, Mrs. Grace Drollinger of Veedersburg, and a brother, Albert Elmore, of Alamo. The son is with a petroleum subsidiary of the Standard Oil Co. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Alamo Christian Church. Burial will be at the Alamo Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church hour preceding the rites. Friends may call at the family home near Alamo beginning at noon Saturday. - kbz

Final Rites Conducted For Roscoe M. Elmore ALAMO- Funeral services for Roscoe M. Elmore were held Monday at the Alamo Christian Church with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Carl Stamford, Lincoln Lankford, Leslie Elmore and Mrs. Byron Smiley sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Inez Luzader. Pall bearers were Marshall Houser, Walter McClure, James Elmore, Paul Garrison, Nathan Paul Drollinger, Carl Snyder, Leslie Pickett, and Archie Bell. Flower bearers were Mrs. Marshall Houser, Mrs. Lamoyne Synder, Carol Ann and Carla Marie Snyder; Mrs. James Elmore, Mrs. Paul Garrison, Mrs. Nathan Paul Drollinger, Billy Houser, Archie and Eddie Houser, Mrs. Edith Williamson, mrs. Alice Tilson, Mrs. Ruth Schenck, Mrs. Laura Barger, Mrs. Gertrude Pickett, Mrs. Helen Pickett, Mrs. Martha Bell, Mrs. Rachel Fruits, Miss Dianna Fruits, Mrs. Alice Utterback and Richard Williamson. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery. - kbz
